Standards & Ethics


Members in good standing of the Registered Start-Up Business Consultant Institute are anticipated to behave in a manner which fetches reputation to the Institute by upholding the obligations and responsibilities of membership.


A. Client Interest

Members shall realize that the client’s interest is always the utmost priority in any consulting assignment and shall accept all consulting assignments with complete professionalism, diligence, integrity and objectivity.

B. Prevention of Conflict of Interests

Members shall not accept any assignments in which there might be the perception of a conflict of interest or a conflict of interest without first discussing the potential conflict with their client.  If a conflict of interest develops during the assignment, the member should immediately discuss such conflict with the client and cease the consultancy.

C. Confidentiality

Members shall at all time keep all client information strictly confidential and shall never disclose t such privileged, confidential or proprietary information regarding client or client’s business without express written or verbal approval from their clients.

D. Dishonorable Practices

Members shall not practice in unethical or illegal manners that bring discredit to the Institute or to other members of the Institute.

E. Reasonable Fees

Members shall have a comprehensive understanding with the client before the instigation of the consulting assignment and shall demand reasonable charge in relation to the work being performed.


A. Professional Proficiency

Members shall only admit consulting assignments for which they can reasonably anticipate to complete with a high degree of proficiency within the timeframe decided with the client.  If a member does not have the confidence and capability to accept an assignment when first presented with an opportunity for consultation services, member should seek to enhance such competence through additional research and training before accepting such assignment.

B. Due Professional Diligence

Members shall conduct all assignments with attention to detail, due professional diligence and follow-up when deem necessary.

C. Communication with Clients

Members shall clearly communicate with client, verbally or in writing, the work plan, the scope of work to be performed, and the responsibilities of each party in completing the consulting assignment.

D. Continuing Professional Development

Members shall sustain their professional competence by continuing updating matters relating to start-up business consulting.
